In this exploration of landscapes, kindergarteners at Franklin Fine Arts will construct various landscapes employing the technique of collage and color theory to distinguish complementary colors making their landscapes pop. At the end of this sequenced lessons, students demonstrated observable growth in their craftsmanship skills using art making tools: scissors, oil pastels and watercolors to create collages inspired by the desert landscape of the Sonoran/Sub-Saharan Desert and the urban landscapes of Chicago.
This two day lesson, young artist from Chicago's John Hancock College Prep excersised agency over their personal narratives an identities through still life drawing observation. Students were introduced to color theory, mark making patternmaking, elements of composition while exploring graphate as a medium. The class studied the works of contemporary artist working between themes of personal narr atives and illustration. Students developed still life illustrations selecting 2-3 personal objects that best represent their identity, these objects included but were not limited to keychains, glasses, plushies, sports hats, custom airpod case, lipgloss, religious/cultural objects.
